Sister to Sister is a local community summit staffed by AAUW and college students to facilitate a special day of fun and information for middle school girls. Summits bring together girls of all ages to discuss positive coping strategies for issues like sexual harassment, violence, early sexual activity, substance abuse, and body image.

Volunteers are needed to make this special gathering possible. Here are some ways you can contribute:

• Items for goodie bags - ask stores and businesses if they will donate 150 items of middle school girl interest - or purchase smaller quantities of fun things on your own. Gift certificates or small tokens of appreciation for facilitators are also needed. Contact Liz Stepp at lstepp@sbcglobal.net to arrange pickup of your items, and she or June Hill, Emelia Hoefle, or Mary DuBoise will pick up your goodies. Or bring them to the October event for delivery as well.
• Help with Registration 8:00am to 9:30am
• Hall monitoring assistance during workshop sessions
• Goodie Bag stuffers - to fill bags in morning and/or pass them out in the afternoon.
• Breakfast/Lunch assistance - TCC will fix and serve food; we will merely assist.
• Take pictures day of event.
• Accompany girls outside for bus and parent pickup after event.
• Room monitor of Sister to Sister supplies, where workers can come and go to pick up materials.
• Mentoring is needed by AAUW Members. Contact Jo Linda Martinez if you are able and can attend training on Oct 27th.
