On behalf of Tarrant County Branch and Susan Dougherty, Program VP, you are invited to attend the following AAUW monthly events for the 2009-2010 year:

May Event at Los Vaqueros Stockyards
May 19th, 5:30-7:30pm
2010-2011 Officer Installation

Please join us for the May event on Wednesday, May 19th at Los Vaqueros Stockyards from 5:30pm to 7:30pm for the officer installation.  Need more motivation?  It is also half-price margarita night until 7:00pm!  Dinner is $16 per person, which includes a fajita bar, non-alcoholic beverage and the tip.  Your check made out to AAUW TCB and mailed to Emelia Hoefle, 1301 Trammell Drive, Benbrook, TX 76126 by May 13th is your reservation.  Feel free to invite spouses, friends and potential members to this fun and festive evening which will include some restaurant drawing giveaways.  If you have questions or dietary concerns, feel free to contact Emelia at emelia1301@yahoo.com by May 10th.  Los Vaqueros is located close to the Stockyards at 2629 N.Main Str, 76164, ph:817-624-1511.

Completed: Wednesday, Apr 21st: Bavarian Bakery is located at 3000 Southeast Loop 820, Fort Worth 76140, 817-551-1150. Sara Smith,Executive Coach and Consultant, and Academic Director for Women in Motion, will be speaking on leadership skills for women. She will be discussing the new women's leadership program at SMU, and sharing her practical business experience; ranging from being GM of a theatrical production company to working 30 years for IBM. Sara is a recognized leader in creating highly responsive leaders who engage their workforces to deliver extraordinary results. The cost is $20, which will be collected at the door, and includes a dinner choice of Tenderloin of Turkey, Bayrischer Wurstteller(sausage), Bayrischer Schweinebraten(pork roast), or Munchner Schnitzel(pork loin). Mary says the meals are huge and elaborate...doggie-bag size! A menu explaining these 4 choices will be available for you to order from that evening. Completed: Wednesday, Sept 16th:  Paving the Way for the Next Generation:  TCU student Susan Harz reviews her  experience at the AAUW National College Conference for Women Student Leaders. Meeting location will be Fort Worth Community Arts Center at 1300 Gendy. Reservations are required at lstepp@sbcglobal.net . Dinner will be catered by Z's Cafe and is $20.00 per person. "Meet and Greet" at 5:30pm, program at 6:00pm.

Completed: Oct 21st:  At Sid Richardson Museum with tour by museum historian Mary Burke from 5:30-6:30pm. Museum store will be open afterwards for browsing. Dinner and meeting follows next store at restaurant 8.0 . Reservations are required (by Oct 17th) by emailing lstepp@sbcglobal.net. Save 20% at 8.0 by using your Press Pass.

Completed: Nov 18th:  United Way report on 2009 Community Assessment for Tarrant County by Pat Cheong, United Way Assistant Vice President for Advocacy. Meeting location will be Fort Worth Community Arts Center at 1300 Gendy. Reservations are required at lstepp@sbcglobal.net . Dinner will be catered by Z's Cafe and is $20.00 per person, consisting of salad trio, lemon bars, beverage, tax, tip, and meeting room. Please bring cash or check made out to Z's Cafe. This is a good month to bring a guest! "Meet and Greet" at 5:30pm, program at 6:00pm.

Completed: Wednesday, Jan 20th Event:   Gladney Center for Adoption TourPlease join us on Wednesday, January 20th, at 5:30pm for our monthly event, which will be at the Gladney Center for Adoption at 6300 John Ryan Drive, Fort Worth, 76132 (it's right behind Harris Hospital Southwest). Dinner is being catered by On the Border for $20 each, which includes meal and delivery charge. Please bring cash or check to be collected by June Hill, Susan Dougherty, and/or Liz Stepp. Reservations are essential; so please RSVP to lstepp@sbcglobal.net by Sunday the 17th, if you will be attending. Susan Dougherty will greet you at the main front door of the Gladney when you arrive. We will tour the campus, and learn about Gladney's 120 year history in Fort Worth. The maternity residence will be part of our tour, and services offered for birthparents, adoptive families and adoptees will be reviewed. A brief outreach presentation will be given about current adoption practices and trends, and Gladney's unique and personalized adoption plans for birthparents will be discussed. We look forward to seeing you there!

Completed: Feb 18th:  (Thursday) Centennial Celebration of Women event at the YWCA ballroom: For more than 100 years, American Association of University Women, American Association of Family and Consumer Services, and YWCA Fort Worth & Tarrant County have been the voice for women in equality, employment, and education. The three organizations will be honored at the Centennial Celebration of Women...100 Years Forward event at 6:00pm, Thursday, Feb 18th, in the Grand Ballroom of the YWCA at 512 W.Fourth St. in downtown Fort Worth. Parking is directly across from the YWCA on West 4th St. Free parking is available by 6:00pm. Representatives from each organization will speak about their history and the challenges they foresee in the future for women and girls. Dr. Tahita Fulkerson, president of Trinity River Campus, Tarrant County College, will facilitate this panel discussion.AAUW Tarrant County is hosting the event. Completed Mar 17th: YWCA's Marcy Paul speaking on Racial Justice at Chadra's Mezza & Grill. Please join us on Wed, March 17th at 5:30pm for a fun and informative evening at Chardra's Mezza & Grill, located at 1622 Park Place Ave, Fort Worth. YWCA Director for Racial Justice Marcy Paul will present a program and discussion on diversity. We will order from a small menu at the restaurant. Here are the entrees on the menu along with complete price to you (includes gratuity): Chicken Shawarma $13.15, Chicken Kabobs $13.15, Eggplant Lasagne $11.95, Stuffed Jumbo Shells $9.95, Tortellini Alfredo $11.10. All 5 entrees include salad and bread. Items may be selected the evening of the 17th.
